Research and Technologies for Future Particle Physics Experiments

Accelerator Science and Technology (AST)

We apply novel and advanced concepts for generating, measuring and controlling energetic particle/electron beams for future experiments. The AST group originated in 2020/2021 from the former DESY-FH group for linear accelerator technology FLA (2005-2020). Our current and main goal is to develop and mature beam-driven plasma wakefield accelerators in terms of beam quality, stability and applicability in HEP and FEL contexts. The expertise and experience in designing, building and operating diagnostics setups and accelerator infrastructures is also deployed in the Cluster of Excellence 'Quantum Universe' experiments.
