Testbeam and Telescopes (TBT)
DESY operates a test beam facility in Hall 2 (building 27) at the DESY II synchrotron in Hamburg. It is one of the very few facilities worldwide offering particles in the GeV range. At three independent beam lines, electron or positron beams are available with user-selectable momenta from 1-6 GeV/c. This facility offers unique infrastructure, including a high field solenoidal magnet and permanently installed high-precision pixel beam telescopes.

Together with the Machine division (M) and in collaboration with other groups of the Particle Physics division (FH), the Test Beams and Telescopes subgroup (TBT) is taking care of the operations and development of the facility itself and its world-class infrastructure. Details and further information can be found on the home page of the DESY II Test Beam Facility.
Our group provides dedicated support for the EUDET-type pixel beam telescopes and is actively working on the development of new beam telescopes, like the large area strip beam telescope (Lycoris). In addition, we are pursuing R&D for novel silicon pixel sensors. The remaining activities of the former FLC TPC group are continued by us, including the support for the advanced infrastructure for R&D for high precision gaseous detectors.
We are actively contributing to and supporting several education programs as the DESY summer student programme, the DESY teachers education and, in the years 2019-2022, in collaboration with CERN the Beamline for Schools competition for high school students.
